Technical Author (Engineer)

We are supporting a specialized engineering company based in Sofia that delivers high-level technical documentation and programming models for leading global semiconductor corporations. The team works closely with major chip manufacturers and supports the development of microcontrollers and system-on-chip (SoC) platforms used in automotive, industrial, and embedded applications.
The company is a compact, highly technical team of engineers focused on creating precise, structured, and developer-oriented documentation for complex processor architectures.

We are currently looking for a Technical Author (Engineer) – an engineer with strong embedded systems knowledge who wants to specialize in technical documentation and processor-level modeling. This is not a pure writing role; it requires solid understanding of microcontrollers, hardware modules, and system architecture.

Responsibilities:
➢ Translate complex microcontroller and SoC specifications into clear, structured technical documentation (reference manuals, module descriptions, programming guides);
➢ Analyze processor architectures, hardware modules, registers, and peripheral blocks to develop accurate programming models and configuration sequences;
➢ Communicate directly with client-side hardware and software engineering teams (primarily US-based) to clarify unclear or incomplete specifications;
➢ Interpret architectural documentation and convert hardware-level logic into developer-friendly explanations;
➢ Review and refine existing documentation to ensure technical accuracy and consistency;
➢ Structure and maintain content using XML-based documentation systems and content management tools;
➢ Participate in regular team meetings (daily stand-up at 10:00) and occasional international calls in late afternoon hours;
➢ Potentially support small scripting or tooling tasks related to documentation workflows (where applicable);
➢ Contribute to improving documentation standards, structure, and internal processes.

Requirements:
➢ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Electronics, or Communication Technologies (strongly required);
➢ Solid understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems, and processor architecture;
➢ Ability to read and interpret hardware specifications, register descriptions, and architectural documents;
➢ Strong analytical mindset and attention to technical detail;
➢ Very good command of English (written and spoken) – daily communication with international engineering teams;
➢ Willingness to work onsite in Sofia during the initial 3-month period (afterwards hybrid model possible).

Nice to Have:
➢ Experience in technical writing or documentation engineering;
➢ Experience with XML, DITA, or Content Management Systems;
➢ Familiarity with documentation tools such as Oxygen XML, xMetal, MadCap Flare, or similar;
➢ Programming knowledge (Embedded C/C++, Python, or JavaScript);
➢ Experience in embedded or semiconductor-related environments (automotive electronics, MCU/SoC development, hardware R&D).

What’s in It for You:
➢ Full-time employment contract;
➢ Hybrid work model after the initial onboarding period;
➢ Additional health insurance;
➢ Office located in central Sofia;
➢ Opportunity to work on real processor-level documentation for global semiconductor leaders;
➢ Structured, engineering-driven environment within a focused and technically strong team.
