Senior Backend Developer (Open to Python Transition)

ImpacT Hire is currently supporting one of our partners – a fast-growing, technology-driven product company transforming the way people experience online retail and logistics.
Their platform powers thousands of daily operations across users, order fulfillment centers, transportation, and merchant operations. As the business scales, the engineering team is expanding with experienced backend professionals who can contribute with strong ownership, architectural thinking, and hands-on delivery.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with Python (or strong backend experience willing to transition to Python) to join one of the core product teams.

Responsibilities:
➢ Design, implement, and optimize backend services and new features across customer-facing and internal systems;
➢ Work closely with Frontend Engineers and Product Managers within cross-functional product teams;
➢ Participate actively in architecture decisions, estimations, and technical planning;
➢ Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance;
➢ Design and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with internal and external services;
➢ Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices;
➢ Review code and contribute to overall technical quality within the team;
➢ Proactively suggest architectural and process improvements.

Requirements:
➢ 5+ years of backend development experience in production environments;
➢ Strong experience with Python (Django preferred) or solid backend experience with another language and willingness to transition to Python;
➢ Hands-on experience with web frameworks and building web services/APIs;
➢ Experience with relational databases and data modelling (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or similar);
➢ Familiarity with Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Celery, or similar tools for async processing and distributed systems;
➢ Understanding of system design, scalability, and distributed architecture principles;
➢ Experience working in CI/CD environments with automated testing and code reviews;
➢ Strong analytical mindset and ownership of solutions;
➢ Good English communication skills.

Nice to Have:
➢ Experience with TypeScript/React or collaboration with frontend teams;
➢ Exposure to infrastructure tools (Ansible, Ubuntu, provisioning);
➢ Background in Python / ML / AI / Data Science with strong interest in web engineering;
➢ Experience working on product platforms with high traffic or operational complexity.
