ImpacT Hire is supporting one of our clients – an established international technology organization developing digital payment solutions and a B2B payment platform for merchants and business partners.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead two software engineering teams working on payment-related products and services.
This is a people-focused leadership role rather than a hands-on development position. You will be responsible for supporting engineers’ professional growth, strengthening team performance, facilitating collaboration with Product Owners and business stakeholders, and ensuring that engineering teams operate effectively within a dynamic international environment.
You will manage two engineering teams of approximately 5–6 professionals each, working within a flat organizational structure without additional Team Leads reporting to you.
The ideal candidate combines a strong software engineering background with proven leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to connect engineering teams with broader business and product objectives.
Responsibilities
➢ Lead, support, and develop two software engineering teams, creating an environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement;
➢ Take ownership of people management activities, including regular feedback, performance discussions, individual development plans, and career progression;
➢ Coach and mentor engineers, helping them develop their technical and professional capabilities;
➢ Support recruitment, onboarding, talent development, and retention to build sustainable, high-performing engineering teams;
➢ Collaborate closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and other engineering leaders to align team priorities with product and organizational objectives;
➢ Ensure effective communication, transparency, and information flow between engineering teams and relevant stakeholders;
➢ Facilitate collaboration across teams and departments, helping resolve organizational challenges, dependencies, and delivery-related obstacles;
➢ Contribute to defining, tracking, and reporting OKRs and team performance indicators aligned with broader business objectives;
➢ Monitor team effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and introduce initiatives that support productivity, engagement, and sustainable delivery;
➢ Represent the engineering teams in discussions with senior management, cross-functional leadership, and international stakeholders;
➢ Support Agile software delivery practices and foster a culture of ownership, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellence;
➢ Use your technical background to understand engineering challenges, facilitate productive discussions, and support informed decision-making without being directly responsible for hands-on development.
Requirements
➢ At least 7+ years in software engineering role, with previous experience working on technically demanding software products or systems;
➢ 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership, team coordination, or positions involving additional management responsibilities;
➢ Proven experience in people management, coaching, mentoring, and developing software engineers;
➢ Previous development experience with Java (preferred) or .NET;
➢ Strong understanding of software development processes, engineering practices, and the challenges involved in delivering complex software products;
➢ Experience collaborating with Product Owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment;
➢ Ability to align engineering activities and team development with business priorities and organizational goals;
➢ Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills;
➢ Experience providing constructive feedback, supporting performance improvement, and facilitating career development;
➢ Ability to manage competing priorities, navigate organizational challenges, and maintain transparency across multiple teams;
➢ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical and organizational topics to both technical and non-technical audiences;
➢ Excellent command of English for communication within an international environment.
Nice to have
➢ Previous experience managing multiple software engineering teams;
➢ Experience within FinTech, payment platforms, banking, or other transaction-intensive environments;
➢ Experience working with geographically distributed or international engineering teams;
➢ Familiarity with situational leadership models and different coaching approaches;
➢ Experience defining and monitoring OKRs or other team performance metrics;
➢ Previous experience in an interdisciplinary management role within an Agile software delivery organization.
What they offer
➢ 25 days of paid annual leave;
➢ Hybrid working model (60% office / 40% home office);
➢ Personal educational budget and regular technical training opportunities;
➢ International training and foreign language classes;
➢ Access to professional learning resources and company library;
➢ Additional health and life insurance;
➢ Financial support for transportation, sports, and other activities;
➢ Modern office environment with recreational areas, underground parking, snacks, beverages, and company-paid lunches.
If you are an experienced software engineering professional who has transitioned into leadership and finds motivation in developing people, building strong teams, and connecting engineering with business objectives, this opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact within an international payment technology environment.
